The concept version of both the gasoline-only and hybrid models were unveiled at the 2011 North American International Auto Show. The production versions were presented in the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. Mass production of the ILX commenced on April 23, 2012 at Honda's assembly facility in Greensburg, Indiana[5] and the vehicle is scheduled to begin U.S. sales shortly thereafter during the second quarter of 2012. The EPA fuel economy rating of the hybrid version is 39 mpg-US (6.0 L/100 km; 47 mpg-imp) for city and 38 mpg-US (6.2 L/100 km; 46 mpg-imp) on highway driving.[6]
Major options include leather upholstery, navigation system, rearview camera, parking sensor system, wireless cell phone link, and fog lights. Circle-See Assist uses 4 cameras that rotate 360 degrees. They are only displayed on the navigation screen. They are to see the interaround views of the outside of the vehicle. If a driver approaches too close to an object, an alert sounds. Available on the hybrid model is Acura's Tire-Pressure Activation, which uses 4 gyroscopic sensors to indicate that an audible signal sounds, indicating that the tires have been overinflated. Also available is Blind Spot Attention that is used by an alarm which sounds.
